  • Leaders need to build the capacity for change, to challenge people, empower them and encourage their creativity
  • Leaders need to understand their organisations culture and history. Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.


Leaders need to adopt practices that will bring out the best in people and to create the conditions for success.  Much has been written about the need of leaders and managers to adopt practices that are both appropriate to the situation and the individual concerned. execo executive coaches and consultants believe effective leaders are those that can do that, drawing on a repertoire of practices – knowing when to be Direct and when to Coach.  The practices a leader habitually chooses, will affect the orientation towards achievement, of their team members.

execo consultants think it important to take the temperature in teams and explore whether leaders feel it is important to be innovative and challenge conservatism or insist on ‘doing it my way’. …..whether they bring conflict out into the open or hide it away?  It is only by understanding these things and the impact they are having, that leaders can work out, what it is they have to focus on, to improve performance.
